One of the funniest books I have read in a long time. It’s sci-fi at it’s best. Holtz nails another one, his flair for the bizar keeps me coming back for more. The character development alone is worth it’s weight in gold!!
Lots of action: battles, strategy, tactics, torpedoes, grenades, guns, spaceships and aliens. If you like your mental images to sparkle with explosions then this is for you! An excellent story.
I encouraged you to have a listen to the free version of Collapse at Hidden ‘Verse Three-Three-Two, [...]. Listen to Brian’s excellent performance, and especially the voice of Tweezor!

This book is good. In fact I will go one step further and say this book is very good. It is a well planned, interesting and exciting story well worth a listen. It has all the components of a heart-rending and action-packed. It has a cast of well developed, fully laden, larger than life characters whose strange situations are sufficiently intertwined in the events that unfold to effectively electrify this tale of adventure. There are some dramatic situations that fringe the storyline, good dialogue, a rugged ‘all terrain’ hero, lost love, and a host of other elements.
The quality of the production is very good, and both the recording and the oration are excellent. I would guess a lot of time and effort have gone into both the writing and production of this piece, and it shows.

PB-Kronos-Promo

Two years after his wife’s death, oceanographer and former navy SEAL, Atticus Young, attempts to reconcile with his rebellious daughter, Giona, by taking her on the scuba dive of a lifetime-swimming with a pod of peaceful humpback whales in the Gulf of Maine. But the beauty of the sea belies a terror from the deep-a horrific creature as immense as it is ancient. There is no blood, no scream, no fight. Giona is swallowed whole by the massive jaws. Only Atticus remains to suffer the shame of the survivor and his inconsolable grief turns to an unquenchable thirst for revenge.

Drawn by the spectacle, Trevor Manfred, a ruthless billionaire, approaches Atticus with a proposition: Trevor will make available all the advanced technology of his heavily armed mega-yacht, the Titan, to aid Atticus in his death-quest. In return, Trevor is to receive the beast’s corpse as the ultimate hunting trophy. But in the midst of the hunt, Atticus makes a terrifying discovery that changes the way he sees the ocean’s creatures and begs the question: what is Kronos? The answer sets him on a new and much more deadly course.

I have now listened to the entire series so many times that I’ve lost count and I am hooked. I only wish that the series didn’t jump so far between the last two books, because I would have enjoyed watching Ishmael attend college and rise to first mate.

A Trader’s Tale from the Golden Age of the Solar Clipper

A shuffling of cabins puts Ishmael Horatio Wang in command of the worst ship in the fleet. He learns that being Captain doesn’t make you infallible and that life in the Captain’s Cabin is filled with new kinds of challenge as he tries to keep the ship moving, the crew out of trouble, and turn a profit to earn his Captain’s Share. In a ship where the officers outnumber the crew, how can he manage to keep everybody happy? Welcome to the SC Agamemnon.

Your books are some of my favorites to listen to while driving. Something about your voice and pacing helps me into a state of mind where I don’t have to focus for hours. It just like being teleported from home to work and back. Thank you for that!

When he graduates from the Academy at Port Newmar, Ishmael Horatio Wang reports for duty in his first assignment as an officer. When he gets to his new ship, he finds things are not exactly the way he’d learned in school. The coffee tastes like used engine oil, the ship has no heart, and the nearest decent tailor is two quadrants away. What’s a new Third Mate to do? Will he be able to trust Billy?

Nathan Lowell, your writing is truly masterful and your voice is perfect for these podcasts. Thank you so much for sharing your gift with the us.

An amazing series. I have gone through Quarter Share and all the available episodes of Half Share twice in the last week or so. I find myself going home so i can listen to the whole book and then relisting to it on my drive. I am Loving these books.

But mostly, I’m impressed by how real these characters are coming to be. The chapter introducing Sarah really brings this out suddenly, we’re not seeing characters speak their lines, but people interacting with each other in real ways.

Join Ishmael, Brillo, Pip, and the rest of the crew of the Lois McKendrick as they help the newest member of the crew adjust to life in the Deep Dark.Half Share is the sequel to Quarter Share, also available at Podiobooks.com.Note: Some scenes in Half Share involve adult themes, nudity, sex and references to religions not based on Judeo-Christian traditions.

Horror/Dark Fantasy

Good Story! It is my opinion a story with a very slow start. If I had followed Sigler’s advice, well, lets just say, good thing I didn’t do as I was told; cause, I would not have finished. I didn’t get into it until chapter 10 that is when it became a good listen. That being said my other grip is as follows: I understand that these are “donations accepted” audio books, but do you have to use the first one and one-half minutes of each episode with commercials? After hearing the sports company commercials so much I would never go to the store, it was simply not contagious or infecting. Sigler make the pain intensely real for the characters so real that the listener can almost feel it. Ouch! The research this accomplished author did shows and makes it quite believable.

Infected by Scott Sigler

Across America a mysterious disease is turning ordinary people into raving, paranoid murderers who inflict brutal horrors on strangers, themselves, and even their own families.
Working under the government’s shroud of secrecy, CIA operative Dew Phillips crisscrosses the country trying in vain to capture a live victim. With only decomposing corpses for clues, CDC epidemiologist Margaret Montoya races to analyze the science behind this deadly contagion. She discovers that these killers all have one thing in common – they’ve been contaminated by a bioengineered parasite, shaped by a complexity far beyond the limits of known science.
Meanwhile Perry Dawsey – a hulking former football star now resigned to life as a cubicle-bound desk jockey – awakens one morning to find several mysterious welts growing on his body. Soon Perry finds himself acting and thinking strangely, hearing voices . . . he is infected.
The fate of the human race may well depend on the bloody war Perry must wage with his own body, because the parasites want something from him, something that goes beyond mere murder.

Science Fiction

I haven’t enjoyed a book this much in a long time. This book doesn’t become some heavy, with evil plots no overdone space battles. WOW. I like how the events flow smoothly. It gives a nice feel to the story. It charts the everyday lives of these people. Really, there is plenty of drama in our real lives that we don’t need Star Wars or Storm trooper haunting our daily existence, and this book delivers that. I just enjoyed being among these characters. I like the nonchalant cohabitations of the sexes without everyone acting like each other as a sex object. I like the notion that being on a ship isn’t really different than being on a planet it has the potential to be pretty boring. the only antidote to that is to get involved and work hard.
There are a number of really good podiobooks and other podcast stories that I’ve listened to. But it is extremely rare for me to listen to any of them more than once. I’ve listened to Quarter Share more than once! There is a natural quality to the way that Nathan Lowell reads the story so it never seems like the story is being read, but like Ishmael is actually telling the story to you.

Circle Trilogy by Nora Roberts

I don’t buy vampire books, but my mom happened to give me this trilogy last year. I finally decided to listen to them when I had nothing else to read. By the end of the first chapter, I was HOOKED. Quite a different Nora Roberts in this trilogy. It is full of vampires, dragons, shape-shifters, witches, and wizards.

For anyone who doesn’t want to buy this trilogy because they are “vampire books,” don’t let that stop you. The story isn’t about vampires roaming the earth – it’s about so much more. Friendships. Love. Courage. The ultimate fights between good and evil and being willing to sacrifice everything for the better good.

The book deals with the final days leading to the big battle in the Valley of Silence on Samhain. Moira pulls up the legendary sword from the rock and is declared the queen of Geall.

The circle of 6 consisting of the sorcerer Hoyt, Hoyt’s vampire brother Cian, the witch Glenna, the warrior Blair, the shape-shifter Larkin and Larkin’s scholar cousin Moira the Queen, all plot and strategize as the final day approaches when the humans must meet the vampires in a final battle that will either save or destroy the rest of the world. Posts are set up by both the people of Geall and the Vampires. Both the humans and the vampires use dirty tricks to sabotage the other’s things and kill each other.

I absolutely loved this series and was saddened when it ended.

This book hooked me from the beginning. The way Seth Harwood puts the characters into the story line was excellent. He does a great job building the plot for Jack Palms and all of the characters are fully fleshed out. It’s not hard to get caught up and sitting in front of your house just trying to get a little more before the wife yells for you to come inside. Seth Harwood is a talented narrator. He cleverly pulls you in and with all the different type of voices from Czech, Russian and the different gangsters refuses to let you go. Wow! What an instance ride. I’m still searching for the words to do Jack Wakes Up justice. I even won a signed print copy on his interview with www.blogtalkradio.com/podioracket. Great guy. Killer book. Non stop action from cover to cover with a pro podcast to back it up.

What does a movie-star one-hit-wonder and ex-drug-addict do when he’s cleaned up, down on his luck, and running out of money?

In the three years since Jack Palms went clean – no drugs, no drinking, no life – he’s added fourteen pounds of muscle, read 83 books, and played it as straight as anyone can ask him. Now, when an old friend from L.A. calls, he signs on to help a set of Eastern Europeans score enough coke to settle down and set up shop. All Jack has to do is keep them entertained and get them through their purchase.

But when the plan runs into a few problems, and Jack starts getting phone calls from an old friend on the police force, he realizes that this business will take a lot more acting than he first assumed.
